Chemical properties
Titanium is a Group IV transition metal, which exhibits a tetravalent state in solutions. The use of various chelators has been reported, but stable in vivo chelation is still challenging REF.
Nuclear properties
Ti-45 decays with a half-life of 3.08 hours by β+ decay (84.82(13)%) or electron capture (15.18%) to stable Sc-45.
Ti-45 emits γ-rays with low intensity besides the 511 keV annihilation γ-lines, where the 719.6 keV (0.154%) γ-ray has the highest intensity REF.
The total electron energy emitted per decay is 372 keV, the total photon energy per decay is 866 keV REF.
Production
Ti-45 is produced by proton irradiation of natural Sc targets at Hevesy Laboratory at DTU. A radiochemical Ti/Sc separation via extraction chromatography leads to n.c.a. Ti-45.
Distribution
Radiochemical separations are performed at Hevesy Laboratory (DTU, Risø, Denmark). Activity will be shipped from there to the users in form of Ti4+ in oxalic acid solution.
Examples of use
Ti-45 has been studied for PSMA-targeted imaging REF
